Nike+ Training App

This is my new favorite app! In June, I decided to kick my workout routines into high gear. I had been having a rough time getting back into shape and keeping up in yoga class. I decided that I needed to do something about this and the Nike+ Training app is what did it for me. This app was recommended by Sanaa Jaman PhD (aka LadyDork).

I remember noticing that her yoga poses improved in very little time. In a year, she was able to nail a lot of poses that were difficult for her at first. She mentioned that she needed to get into shape to achieve her yoga goals and this is the app that helped. I downloaded it and a month and a half later I saw tremendous results in my posture, my stamina, and my mind. I loss about 15 lbs and gained muscle tone.

The app is super easy to use. You create an account by entering in data about your physique and personal preferences. Once your account is set up you take a Benchmark test that measures your physical ability with a 6 minute workout routine. Once they get the results you are welcomed with a suggested startup workout plan for the period of 4 weeks. 

The best thing about this app is that it is absolutely FREE! Imagine having your own personal trainer in the palm of your hand. 

They have layouts of workout plans done by professional athletes like Simone Biles and Cristiano Ronaldo. They even have workout categories to choose from. If you want a short ab workout or yoga flow, they've got it.  

You can customize your plans by choosing: indoors/outdoors, gym/home, weights/bodyweight, frequency, etc. There are so many features I can't list them all. You have to download the app and see for yourself. 

One of my favorite things about the workout plans are how they consider keeping the muscles balanced with the order of exercises. It goes from quads to hams or legs to arms the layout is truly well thought out. With the Nike app meditation and breathing are always encouraged. Focusing on your body and breath help re-align the mind, body, and soul. You'll get your head clear and gain so much more body awareness.
